The Path and Purpose of Our Association

There were teachers and parents who, each in their own place, devoted themselves to a different vision of education. Believing that Waldorf Education could become a source of hope not only for each child, but for society as a whole, they began to come together and walk this path hand in hand.

The Association’s first steps began in 2009, with five teachers gathered in a small meeting room at Seoul Station. Later, as thirty teachers came together to seek an answer to the question, “Why do we need to unite?”, they placed their handprints in a shared artistic work. On that day, the direction of the Association had already begun to take clear form.
The solidarity among parents was just as strong.
In 2015, representatives first gathered to share the challenges of school life and governance. Through studying together and preparing lectures, they came to realize that the value of education grows wider when one’s own thoughts move beyond the boundaries of a single school.
After more than a decade of shared dedication and mutual support, these efforts finally came together in 2021 under one name: the Korean Waldorf School Association.

“When we make the effort to bring the ‘I’ into the ‘we,’ and embrace what is needed as our own, hope begins to grow—hope that we can nurture together.”

Like this reflection, the Association is more than a gathering of schools. It is a trusted companion and a shelter of support, standing together as we prepare the education of tomorrow.
